Cover Letter for Paper 3

For this project we created a powerpoint that went through some different kinds of literacy sponsors. We wanted to explore different literacy sponsors in an effort to single out which sponsors is the most effective overall. We helped ourselves come to this conclusion through research, peer interviews, and our own experiences. I think the information and support we have for the "family" sponsor slides are the best so if given more time I would like to help build on the other sponsors that we touched on in the project. Please depict any weak points you see in our arguments when reading and also see if the supports for sports and school were strong enough.

  1. The main point of this power point presentation was to discover what was the best and most powerful literacy sponsor for most people. They proved this through interviews, a pie chart, and the facts behind what they believe the top 3 literary sponsors are: family, school, and sports.

Although I enjoyed reading through your powerpoint, it got more and more confusing as I continued to read. The beginning was strong and I like how you loosely defined and explained what a literary sponsor was for you readers who may not know. It would've been good to include a quote from an author or 2 on how they describe what a literary sponsor is. Labels or titles could have been helpful in the beginning of your slide show. I liked the color scheme you decided to use. It made the words stand out. I liked how you included an interview in your slideshow, but I think it would've been better to choose someone who believed that their family was their greatest literary sponsor to better support your results. It also would be helpful to have the dialogue of a few of your interviews written out on a slide to make for better support. On slide 7, you say that we have seen what literary sponsor is best, but all we saw was one interview and a pie chart that didn't even have percentages on it or how many people you interviewed and how many said what. The use of bullet points for each point on slides 7-10 and slide 12 would be helpful because it was a little hard to separate each point you were trying to make.
When you are talking, many times you refer to yourself, but since there are three of you working on this project, I don't know who is talking or who is telling there story.
You used the Pros and Cons Method for the Schools section, a very descriptive and detailed method for the family sections, and a positive and negative method for the sports section. All of this made it very confusing. Try picking one method and stay with it. Also try adding more detail to the school and sports sections since the family section is so big. Overall, I enjoyed reading through your slideshow. I thought it was very interesting. I was surprised by the fact that family was the most influential and not school.
