In this paper, my main point was to show that plagiarism shouldn't be punished immediately if the person being accused didn't know that they did it. I supported my claim by using of authors' past situations, and I also used a situation that happened in my past. I think that I did a good job citing my sources, but I'd hope I would because I was doing this on plagiarism! I dont' think I made my paper was conversational, and I will need to practice that to make it better. If I had more time with this paper, I would have gotten more arguments for both sides to better present this argument.

ReplyDeleteFrom reading your essay, I would say that the general point you were trying to make was what we need to change about plagiarism and how it is addressed. Your paper leads on to discuss that there should be a distinguishable difference between those with the intent to plagiarize and those who do it by accident because those who do it by accident should not be punished. Another major point you try to make about plagiarism is how one major cause of it is simply the lack of knowledge students have about citation and how a good grasp on citation is essential to avoid plagiarism. Your paper provides multiple types of plagiarism and uses different sources as evidence behind what you think about plagiarism, that seems to be that punishments for plagiarism are too harsh and sometimes no even the student's fault. Overall I think you did a good job of presenting your argument in your paper. There are some things that need to be fine tuned however. For example, watch your comma usage at times it seems there were too many and if theres an excessive amount of commas near each other the paper can sound choppy when read. You have a very strong argument for you view on the issue but your paper lacked any other opposing arguments. If your paper was on how students should not be punished for certain kinds of plagiarism maybe you could cite an article that took plagiarism very seriously and pushed for its penalties.
